The European Commission is due to present its latest package of energy crisis proposals on Tuesday, potentially leading to another emergency energy council before the end of September.

EC President Ursula von der Leyen has already said the commission wants to see mandatory power demand reductions during peak hours, and a cap on non-gas generator revenues.

In France, focus will be on the winter power outlook by grid operator RTE on Wednesday.

Nuclear operator EDF currently has over 30 reactors offline but is committed to restarting all of them this winter.

In oil, prices face fears of recession, a strong dollar, lockdowns in China, and the G7's yet unspecified plan to put a cap on Russian oil prices.

OPEC and the International Energy Agency publish their monthly oil market reports on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

European steel federation Eurometal is holding its Southern Europe regional meeting in Milan on Thursday, focusing on the challenges of European steel distribution in 2022.

Other key topics will be the problem of rising energy costs forcing steelmakers to reduce production, as well as European steel safeguards.

I'm Kira Savcenko, thank you for kicking off your Monday with S&P Global Commodity Insights.
