This week, the market is watching G7 talks on finalizing a proposed Russian oil price cap, along with Russia's redirection of exports ahead of an EU ban.

In addition, OPEC+ ministers will be congregating in Vienna ahead of a formal ministerial meeting on Sunday, Dec. 4.

Among the factors weighing on the market are Russia's ability to maintain output and ensure alternative markets, along with the global economy and China's woes.

In power, Germany is due to approve a huge household and industrial energy bill support package this week, financed in part via a windfall tax on non-gas-fired power generators.

A recent draft of the measures details a revenue cap on offshore wind and nuclear generators of Eur130/MWh, above which 90% of revenue would be taxed.

This is considerably below the 180 euros recommended by the European Commission.

In carbon markets, players will gather at the Global Carbon Markets Conference in Barcelona starting Tuesday, organized by S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Delegates will be mulling the potential for bilateral agreements between countries on transfer of emissions units, as well as the impact of COP27's decisions on the use of 6.4 authorized and non-authorized credits.

A number of metals and mining events take place in London this week, including the MINEX Eurasia Mining Conference,

the annual Mines and Money London conference, and the UK's Critical Minerals Association and Geological Society Business Forum.
