Bertan has experience in specialty and diversified chemical companies such as Jotun Paints, Wacker Chemicals and by BASF. He has been in charge of sales, marketing and strategy roles. Prior to joining IHS Markit (Now a part of S&P Global) in 2017, Bertan worked at various offices of BASF for 14 years in numerous positions and lately was responsible for emerging regions. He led the strategic marketing and business development projects for business division petrochemicals in the regions of Turkey, Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS. His experience span included solvents, oxo-alcohols, acrylics and plasticizers. He also led across industry teams at BASF along the construction value chain where focusing on key projects to create new markets through various entities such as polyurethanes, coatings and construction chemicals. He was previously heading market development and strategy projects involving industry groups automotive, furniture, packaging offering products such as polyurethanes, dispersions, coatings, intermediates, engineering plastics and petrochemicals. Prior to that he was regional sales head for Chemicals department (petrochemicals, intermediates, inorganics) based in Dubai and Turkey.

Before joining BASF, Bertan worked as regional sales and marketing manager for Wacker Chemicals for the silicone oils, emulsions and elastomers. He established and steered an independent sales structure serving leather and textile producers in Turkey and Middle East. Lately he moved to Dubai office and took charge of business development for sealants producers, aluminium and glass companies, structural glazing companies.

His former role involved sales function in Jotun Paints as sales executive for industrial floorings and also polyurethane and epoxy based protective coatings for steel fabrication.
