Hurricane season is on its way in the Atlantic region. Storms that made landfall over 2020-2022 resulted in reductions of 14.5% in power load, 11% on power burn, and 20.4% in wholesale power prices. For 2023, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast near-normal numbers for tropical activity in the Atlantic hurricane season. But even near-normal numbers could heavily impact energy markets, suppressing power and gas demand and LNG shipping.
