A total solar eclipse will cross North America on April 8, resulting in heavily reduced solar power plant output. It will differ from an annular eclipse in that the sun will be entirely blocked by the moon, rather than partially blocked with a visible halo of sunlight. Power markets in Texas and the Mid-Atlantic region are expected to see the biggest impact in solar-powered generation.
