Acetylene is used as an intermediate in chemical manufacture and as an industrial gas in the metalworking industry, primarily for cutting and welding. Driven by the development of mainland Chinese PVC and 1,4- butanediol acetylenic chemicals, global consumption of acetylene will continue to grow at an average annual growth rate of 2.6% during 2023–28. Vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is the largest chemical use for acetylene, representing nearly 81.2% of the total acetylene chemical consumption, followed by 1,4-butanediol and vinyl monomer (VAM).
This report provides an excellent insight into the global market for acetylene. It has been compiled using primary industry research and brings together elements of other acetylene-related Chemical Economics Handbook (CEH) reports.
